English: originally a fanciful respelling of DIANA (SEE Diana), now often taken as a feminine form of DEAN (SEE Dean). It was made popular by the singing actress Deanna Durbin (b. 1922), whose original given name was EDNA (SEE Edna); Deanna may have been derived as a partial anagram of this.
